Accounting Clerk

Position Description

The Accounting Clerk supports the Finance and Accounting team by performing daily accounting tasks, accurate data entry, and maintaining financial records. This role is also responsible for all processes related to capturing, reviewing, and maintaining financial and project data in Deltek Vantagepoint. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Enter accounts payable invoices, review and approve employee expenses, vendor payments, and related financial transactions.
  • Support accounts receivable processes including invoicing, payment posting, and collections support.
  • Assist with general ledger postings, account reconciliations, and month-end close tasks.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records in digital and physical formats.
  • Support internal audits, reporting requests, and other administrative needs.
  • Enter, update, and maintain all financial, employee, vendor, and project data in Deltek Vantagepoint.
  • Ensure data accuracy for project setup, WBS structures, budgets, billing terms, labor categories, and contract values.
  • Process timesheets, labor adjustments, project updates, and workflow approvals.
  • Conduct routine data reviews to ensure completeness, consistency, and compliance with internal standards.
  • Work with project managers and internal teams to ensure data is correctly captured and reflects operational needs.
  • Support system audits, data cleanup initiatives, and workflow improvements within Vantagepoint.
  • Help generate financial, operational, and project-level reports using Deltek Vantagepoint.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to vendor records, billing, timesheets, or project data.
  • Identify process improvements to streamline data accuracy and workflow efficiency.


Qualifications:

  • 1 to 3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or data-entry experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and general office software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive financial information.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar project-based ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of project accounting, A/E/C industry practices, or professional services environments.
  • Experience supporting multi-department teams.
